Antibiotics for back pain: hope or hype?

Post by bindeweede » Thu Nov 05, 2015 11:22 am

The media went crazy for a recent research paper that showed some benefit in long term antibiotic use for some patients with back pain. But was this science or sensationalism, is talk of a Nobel prize premature, and what of the author’s potential conflicts of interest? Margaret McCartney investigates.
Interesting article. ... eytype=ref

Whether hype or hope, it's an interesting find nonetheless.

I found the live interactive webchat which followed this article to be very informative. (Comments are now closed):

"Join the scientist behind the discovery in a live webchat"
Joining us for a live webchat is Hanne Albert, the Danish woman who made the discovery, and Peter Hamlyn, the consultant spine surgeon who recently operated on rugby player Tom Croft, and deems the significance of the discovery as "vast."

As a strong believer of natural ways of treatment, I always prefer chiropractic treatment for back pain. Last month, suffered from lower back pain and came to know about name removed - Admin having expert chiropractors. Took treatment from them and got great relief from pain.

What is "natural" about chiropractic?

(Oh, and commercial links are not allowed, in your sig or anywhere else. - Admin.)
